Thanks for the question. You should wait 2-3 weeks because your operation area trying to get healed. Then after yes you can do smoke and drink. I wish you all the best.
I'm pretty sure the answer to this is predictable: you should not smoke altogether. Period. 6 weeks after surgery, the risk of wound infection and poor wound healing is rather small and you should be safe to consume nicotine products from a healing perspective but no meaningful studies (at least none that I'm familiar with) have investigated this. Best wishes...
As a Physician, I can never give any individual the green light to smoke. As the nature of your question implies, you were most likely advised to stop smoking around the time of your surgery to promote a faster recovery. Although you are out of the initial window of postoperative healing, your nose is still in a lesser but significant cycle of inflammation. If you have stopped smoking for 6 weeks, take the opportunity to remain tobacco free.
Hello Rorooo,It is safe to smoke 6 weeks after rhinoplasty, even if you have had an open procedure. Smoking any product with nicotine is best stopped 2-4 weeks prior to your surgery.Good luck,Dr. Shah
In general, I think smoking is a horribly destructive habit for many reasons. But moving past my own philosophy, the smoke can definitely cause irritation of the internal nasal structures leading to persistent swelling and congestion. The exact time at which this effect is of minimal consequence is hard to say. We tell patients they can resume their normal activities after 4-6 weeks. However, this is only a rough guideline. Some could probably have resumed earlier and some may need to wait longer. I tell my patients that if resuming their previous activities causes swelling, etc they should back off for another week and try again. However, in some cases, the swelling doesn't go away immediately after cessation of the activity and a week of oral steroids is necessary to help with the resolution.
Hi, this is a common Rhinoplasty recovery question as drying of the nose and possible nosebleeds can be quite uncomfortable and inconvenient post-operatively, and may also pose some potential health risks. It is important, especially during the dry, winter months (not uncommon in...
Dear misskhan97Thanks for the question. The strength of the impact is crucially important to say something processing. If it’s in the first month and the shape of the nose looks damaged retouch can be done. Of course, the physical examination is the key to figure out actual damage it’s bet...
The short answer to your question, is yes...the nose will become softer with age. It should not, however, 'lean to the side'! You didn't say how long ago the surgery was, but I suggest seeing your doctor again or seeing another surgeon to evaluation.
