I had 1ml of Restylne injected, now 4 days later I've woken up with a huge lump, blisters and little white spots (Photo)

Question

Last week I had my 2nd enhancement with 1ml Juvaderm, where previously back in Feb, I had 1/2ml Restylne. I have woke up this morning, 4 days later, with a lump of Juvaderm on the left side of my top lip & looks like it's going to burst. It has blisterd like a coldsore. I'm massaging the lip but it's so sore & stings. I'm applying Vaseline & ice to sooth the pain & get rid of some swelling but nothing is happening. Does this mean my lip is rejecting the injection & will the reaction get worse?

I think a return visit to your injector is in order.  However, the pre-injection photo shows a fairly maximally enhanced lip, so I am not sure what the indication was further volume augmentation.

From what is written you should see your doctor immediately and ensure you do not have a vascular occlusion or damage to any blood vessels.  It is not common to get cold sores after lip injections but its possible so a formal evaluation is needed. Best, Dr. Emer

I would really suggest to go and see your doctor. This could be sign of viral or bacterial infection. So it is important to be evaluated and examined.

It is possible to have a cold sore on your lips after filler.  It needs to be treated with an antiviral medication like Valtrex.  I think that your lip enhancements have gone a little too far in the size department. Your before photo even seems big to me. You can compromise the blood supply to the lips by adding that much filler and risk a complication of part of your lip dying.

no you are not rejecting the material.It was either injected too fast, too unevenly or not placed correctly. Even though it will eventually go away, go back to your doctor and have hyaluronidase injected to remove it and if you want to try again, wait 6 weeks to get injected
