Radiesse is an FDA-Approved filler that we use very frequently in our office to sculpt the contours of the face. Since we are a national center of excellence for filler reversal, we also encounter patients from other doctors' offices who wish to have Radiesse fillers removed for one reason or another. In our office, we employ a directed technique to visualize the filler material, if possible on ultrasound, and then use non-surgical methods to dissolve the filler or granuloma tissue using intralesional injections. There are many methods using a combination of enzymes, intralesional modulators of scar tissue, and Kenalog to help reduce volume and remaining filler. These techniques require meticulous attention to detail and can be performed at intervals of two to three weeks to achieve longterm effect.

Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, hyaluronidase will not dissolve Radiesse. Hyaluronidase only works on Hyaluronic Acid products such as Juvederm. I suggest confirming with your injector what was used. Best of Luck!

First of all, Radiesse should have never been placed in your lips. The manufacturer of Radiesse, Bioform, strictly advises against using this product in the lips due to this frequent result. Hylenex will have no effect on the calcium hydroxylapatite of the Radiesse, and yes you will need a plastic surgeon to help you get through this. Steroid injections have been tried, and surgical excision. Very sorry you are having this experience.

This product was formulated for cheek augmentation and more recently FDA approved for the NL folds on the sides of the mouth. However it is not a good filler for lips and can create these lumps which in all likelihood require a surgical resection. The hyaluronidase will not breakdown Radiesse because it is not a hyaluronic acid filler as is juvederm restylane etc,
