Hi, I have recently gone through hair transplant before 1.5 months. I am very addicted to masturbation. I want to know does it affect on my transplanted hairs.?? Thanks

Greetings,We advise to avoid sexual activity for first week after hair transplantation.  The rationale is to avoid increasing blood pressure.  There are no studies supporting this however.

If you are addicted to masturbation and you would like help you can discuss this with your doctor.  It should not interfere with your surgery.

There is no scientific evidence to indicate that masturbation or other sexual activity impacts the growth of grafts or hair in general.

Neither sex nor masturbation will cause problems with your hair transplantg. Men's testicles make testosterone and this is metabolized into DHT, a male hormone 40 times as powerful as testosterone. When a person has genes for balding, the hormone DHT works with the gene to cause balding. The body makes an enzyme that allows for the manufacture of DHT and this enzyme can be blocked with the drug finasteride to often stop and possibly slow down the balding process because this DHT hormone production drops.
