To keep my question clear can an 18 year old with receding hair line undergo hairtrasplant I know the fact that it is not recommended as the hair loss is progressive and only the transplanted hair would be left out but can PRP maintain the remaining hair ? If yes than is it ok to do hair transplant and maintain the remaining hair with regular prp injections
Answer: If you are losing hair and want treatment options you should schedule a consultation with a doctor. If you are losing hair and want treatment options you should schedule a consultation with a doctor. In general, PRP does not treat genetic male pattern balding. In general, most doctors recommend against surgery for very young patients since it is difficult to predict the future pattern of hair loss.

Answer: Hair Transplant - 18 years old Thank you for your question.Depending upon the specifics of the patients' case, it is possible and sometimes reasonable for an 18 year old to undergo a hair transplant. Hair loss is progressive and can get worse with age, but male pattern baldness (androgenic alopecia) can impact men as early as their late teens or early 20s. Because patients can expect to continue to loose hair over the course of their lifetime, your consultation should include a discussion of hair maintenance options (propecia, rogaine, hair medica, PRP, light therapy, etc.) as well as surgical hair restoration options. Any patient (independent of age) concerned with hair loss or hair thinning should be evaluated individually by an experienced board certified plastic surgeon who is well-experienced and specialized in performing hair restoration procedures to determine their candidacy for a hair transplant and to review any maintenance options that would be recommended. I hope that you find this helpful and I wish you all of the best.

Answer: While early intervention is wise, it should be done non-surgically at first with minoxidil, finasteride, and laser therapy. It is important to know that hair loss is progressive, and continues over time. While early intervention is wise, it should be done non-surgically at first with minoxidil, finasteride, and laser therapy. Hair transplants for an 18-year old is rarely recommended since your pattern is not typically established until your early to mid 20’s. However, an in-person or virtual evaluation is needed for your specific treatment plan recommendation.

Answer: Hair transplant at age 18 You must know that hair loss is indeed progressive and starting a hair loss prevention regimen is important. I'd recommend switching to organic products for your shampoo and conditioner, and to look in to preventative medications like Finasteride and Minoxidil which has been proven to halt and even reverse hair loss. Before starting any medications it is best to check with your physician.

Answer: What to do if you are 18 and have signs of a receding hair line. Thanks for your question. Many 18 year-olds are in the same position and are unsure what to do about their receding hair line. The first step is to see a quality physician. You should have a discussion on why the hair is leaving and what can be done. In general, you should discuss the use of propecia, rogaine, PRP, light therapy, and transplant. You should have a plan in place that involves follow up and assessment. You may benefit from a transplant, but it is hard to say without meeting you. Best of luck!
