If i'm going to be NW 6 or 7, wich im pretty sure, in the near future, is it possible to cover my whole bald recipient area with the hairs from the back of the head? The hair from the beard can it survive on the scalp if it's exctrated aswell? (I'm 23 years old and going soon NW4).

Answer: Hair tranplantation and other techniques Such an extensive hair loss can be treated by hair transplantation but you must be really realistic to your expectations. Obviously the donor area will not have sufficient extend in order to give so many grafts to cover a very large recipient area. If the grafts are strategically placed you will have your appearance changed in a very positive way. Obviously you must not expect very dense hair. Combination of hair transplantation and other techniques of cosmetic replacement are possible as well and in this case you may have dense hair as well. It all depends on your expectations and the type of treatment you want to have. The hair from the beard can be used as well. A long discussion with a hair expert is going to help you on this direction. The final depends on the number of hair follicles that your donor area is able to give. This is not something that someone can say without having a direct view to the problem.

Answer: Your expectation needs to be realist You can get the best answer, if you can send some pictures please. Norwood 6-7 it’s the end stage of hairloss, your expectation needs to be realist. Donor area capacity can change from 3000 to 8000 grafts. Beard hairs to scalp transplantation gives also permanent results.

Answer: What is the maximum number of grafts that can be extracted The maximum number of grafts reflects your donor density. In some people with low donor density, it might be 3000-4000, but if your donor density is very high, it could be easily 10,000 or more grafts. The average person is about 6000 grafts

Answer: Hair transplant Thank you for asking this question. Please post pictures for us to give better advice. Without pictures it is very difficult to tell if the donor area has sufficient density to harvest for the hair transplantation. Usually someone with Norwood grade 6 or 7 have almost lost everything on the top and vertex; which is 60% to 70% of the total scalp. Someone with grade 6 or 7 baldness would require anywhere between 4000 to 4500 grafts depending on the intended hairline how low you need. The best technique according to us to serve such a large requirement is MMFT technique; which is the combination of both FUT and FUE. Yes, beard hair can also be an option to fulfil the requirement if needed. Good luck! Regards, Dr. Amit Gupta
