Hello, I had BBL surgery here in the U.S. last spring and a few weeks later developed two boils on my right buttock that turned out to be a mycobacterium chelonea/ abcessus soft tissue skin infection. I am seeing an infectious disease specialist and being treated with antibiotics for several months..after Im healed and clear of this infection will I be able to have a second BBL later down the line? anan infectious disease special any surgical procedure

As long as you have been properly treated for the infection and you have no sign of recurrence after you have finished the antibiotics, you may be a candidate for another BBL. I would wait several months after for the tissues to get softer. This will likely make your BBL more successful. Please consult with a board certified plastic surgeon.

Hello, Thanks for your question and photos. If the infection is under control, then a second BBL is possible. I recommend consulting with your plastic surgeon and an infectious disease specialist to inspect this skin infection. Once the surgeon and specialist have confirmed that it's gone, you will have to wait 3-6 months before going through with the second BBL. Best wishes, Dr. Newall

This is a complicated issue requiring the cooperation of a plastic surgeon and the infectious disease specialist. Having one infection does not mean that you could have a second one . However, many factors both general and local need to evaluated by the surgeon prior to surgery.
