Is this pitting? One month after Fue. (photo)

Question

Hi, I had a 1500 Fue hair transplant done about a month ago. I followed the post op care instructions to a tee. But it looks like I have small holes or pitting where the grafts were inserted. Not really sure what this is or if it is normal. My doctor is half way around the world, I reached out to him already, but have yet to get a response. Please see attached pictures. Anything I can do? Really concerned.

Scarring or pitting can happen after surgery due to poor technique or inherent scarring of the patient.  Some people just don't heal well even if the best techniques are used.  Poor technique with larger than average grafts or incision needles can also cause scarring.  Anything is possible.  Explore these options when your doctor returns from their trip.

It's hard to tell for sure but you may have some pitting.  Pitting can occur when the transplanted hairs are inserted at the wrong depth.  Pitting is also more likely when slots are made first and the hairs inserted later.  To avoid pitting, I use specialized implanters an place the hair carefully.  Its still early so you may still heal and the pitting might become less obvious.  If not cellular therapy and possibly some strategically placed hairs with another FUE procedure could help.hope this helps you,Dr Welter

Everyone heals differently and sometimes this can be permanent.  It is important to maintain close follow up, and thus one reason it is not good to use a doctor that is in another country.  You may want to find a local dermatologist or plastic surgeon for evaluation.
