Vertical Lengthening Chin Implant - which size would be best for me? (photos)

I'm considering the VLC implant from Implantech. I'm wondering which size would be best for me, small or medium. I'm a bit confused on the dimensions for this particular implant style. The sizing guide seems to indicate that the VLC-M provides 1cm of forward projection. And the VLC-M sizing chart shows that dimension C (the thickness) is 1cm. But since it extends out at a 45 deg angle, wouldn't the forward projection would be <1cm? I'd think it'd be 1/√2 cm because of the angle. Thanks!

The 1cm is the thickest part, so at the bottom. If you are going to go with implant, I would make sure it is done from under the chin, not through the mouth with a silicone implant. If it is through the mouth, it will ride up and keep your chin short. If done from the outside, you can more easily keep them lower on the jaw, meaning when it heals the height of the chin increases (which you need). A genioplasty is something to consider as well. You are young, so the implant is going to have to last 40-50 years, which is a big ask. In genioplasty, your body heals the bone so you get to enjoy the longterm result without a foreign body.

All chin augmentation effects ultimately come down to a question of what looks best to the patient from which it can then be determined what implant size will most closely approximate that result. You are approaching your chin augmentation in reverse. Rather than picking an implant size from a catalog and then trying to determine what look it will create, you need first to have computer imaging done of various chin augmentation changes to determine the look you want...and then see if what is available in the catalog can come close to that goal. Set the target first becomes choosing how you want to achieve it.
