Can a person who has used for a long time a cream containing retinol and glycolic acid undergo IPL rejuvenation treatment? I have been told that I cannot use that cream for 6 months before the IPL rejuvenation treatment. Is it true? Thank you.

Answer: Retinols and Gylcolic products prior to IPL Most physicians recommend discontinuing retinol or glycolic acid containing products prior to an IPL treatment. Protocols vary by office and provider, but our office recommends patient stop these products, and any other sun-sensitizing products or medications, one week prior to treatment. Again, it is best to consult with your provider and follow their treatment recommendations.

Answer: IPL, retinol and glycolic acid cream Using retinol and glycolic acid products can slow down sun damage and give skin a healthy glow. You can certainly have IPL treatments but should avoid using the products for a few days after your treatments or until any brown coffee ground appearance has faded. You can then resume your cream and remember to use sun protection.
