For this type of tattoo the micropenTR would do well in a few treatments.  However, the pico is much better than the q switched and is  the new "gold" standard for laser tattoo removal.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Yes a Picosure laser is your best option. The Picosure will completely remove your black ink tattoo in 4-8 treatments with no scarring. Don't waste your time (and money) on the Q-switch. Find a doctor with a Picosure laser.

Not all lasers are the same.  The new pico-second lasers are exciting and very helpful.  I have also found the Fotona QX-Max to be an excellent laser for resistant black ink.  I use both the PicoSure and the Fotona QX-Max as well as a VersaPulse and a Ruby Laser.  Sometimes it is a good idea to divided the tattoo into several different treatment areas and treat part of the tattoo with four different lasers as a test to see which one will be most effective.  Sometimes it is a pico-second laser and sometimes it is a different wavelength q-switched laser.

Certainly the Picosure laser is currently the best laser to remove tattoos.  Expect half the number of treatments than required by older generation lasers.  

Success depends on ink density, ink quality, size and colors and EXPERIENCE.Your tattoo is black ink and it should respond to both nanosecond and picosecond lasers. Picosure is a picosecond laser. I would give that a try.
