How long does it take inoral chin implant cut to heal?

An intra-oral incision will often heal faster than an external cut because the mucosa can heal at a faster pace. Usually, the epidermis has healed over by 3-5 days but the deeper (submucosal) tissues will require several weeks to months for the scar tissue to heal and remodel. Although there is, theoretically, a greater risk for infection following chin augmentation via an intra-oral approach compared to the external approach, studies have actually not shown this. Despite this, as with all other forms of implant augmentation, it is very important that you take your antibiotic as directed. Furthermore, I often place my patients on mouthwash 3x/day and a soft, non-abrasive diet to avoid further trauma to the healing mucosa. The suture can take 10-14 days to disappear completely. The earliest sign of infection is worsening pain, followed by erythema, swelling, and then purulence. The risk of infection is very low in general, so rest assured that, if you follow these precautions, you will most likely do very well. Best of luck to you :)!
