Hello, I did chin liposuction 6 months ago. There is currently some unevenness and a dent, but more crucial - the skin didn't shink. I went to the doctor 2 months ago and he claimed that the area looks great and all these issues will go away soon. I spoke with him yesterday, he told me that "it is probably the maximum your skin can reach" and "maybe cosmetic procedures will help". Please advise is there anything I can do to to improve the situation, or is it lost?
Answer: Morpheus8 can help tighten loose skin under the chin after liposuction. Morpheus 8 is a non-invasive skin and soft tissue tightening treatment that is consistently amazing in our patients. We use the Morpheus to exact fractional induced RF into the skin or tissue in order to tighten collagen and stimulate contraction of the tissue. For acne scars, it is quite useful to build collagen in patients who have atrophic scars but is not very productive for ice-pick scars which require TCA Cross. For tissue tightening, Morpheus is ideal for the face and neck and we often combine it with CO2 laser or Ultherapy to further enhance results. Chemical peels and skin resurfacing should be done at least 5 to 7 days after, but can be performed earlier, depending on treatment severity. Avoid exfoliating skin treatments before Morpheus and expect a period of 2-4 weeks for skin contraction to set in. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Neck Liposuction results To make an assessment regarding the outcome of any plastic surgery procedure, we need to see a complete set of proper before and after pictures. If you don’t have before, and after pictures, then ask your provider to forward the pictures. Liposuction resorts are generally based on two variables. The first variable is the patient’s candidacy for the procedure. Generally speaking the best candidates for Liposuction tend to be young people with thick layers of fat and tight skin. The second variable is the skill of the provider. Delivering consistent quality Liposuction results is more difficult than most people realize. The number of plastic surgeons who approach mastery of this kind of work is relatively small. Liposuction only removes subcutaneous fat. Liposuction by itself not a skin tightening procedure. Liposuction can have some impact on how the skin looks and can’t potentially create some Skin contraction. At the same time removing fat just like people who lose a lot of weight can cause worsening of skin laxity. It looks like your liposuction was a bit aggressive and a bit uneven. Young people are much better candidates for Liposuction because they have better skin elasticity. As patients get to the age of 50 usually I recommend not having liposuction and when I do liposuction on people that age am usually very conservative and cautious and lower expectations substantially. Over the age of 50 people are universally better candidates for a neck lift. The main reason for this is age related loss of skin elasticity. My best guess is that you’re outcome. It’s a reflection of both your candidacy for the procedure and the skill of your provider. We don’t have enough information to make a quality assessment. My above statements are assumptions and they may or may not be correct. I’m only telling you what my thoughts are based on the limited information provided. Follow up with your provider and share your concerns with him or her. If you want a second opinion consultation that always come prepared bringing with you a complete set of proper before and after pictures and a copy of your operative report. Those should all be available from your current providers office. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
