Ptosis surgery - is it possible to avoid a surprised look? (Photo)

Question

I met with a oculoplastic surgeon two years ago regarding internal ptosis surgery . I haven’t gotten the surgery as I am nervous about procedure and the outcome . I don’t want the surprised look I see on some . Any advice ?

Did you have prior blepharoplasty? Your upper eyelid creases are very high. Well meaning surgeons sometimes cut them very high thinking they are following the natural crease. This robs the eyes of a natural upper eyelid fold. These eyelids are heavy due to disinsertion of the levator aponeurosis, the tendon that raises the eyelid. So-called internal ptosis is also called Muëller’s muscle conjunctival resection ptosis repair. Surgeon’s love this surgery because surgery is very simple and only takes a few minutes. Results however are often less than ideal and this surgery will not lower your upper eyelid crease. My preferred technique is anterior levator resection ptosis surgery with crease lowering surgery. There is no substitute for a detailed in person assessment.
