So my laugh lines recently became very accentuated. At first I though it was wrinkles (I'm not sure yet ) but then I started noticing that it was just a darker color bc in bright lighting it's less noticeable and if twitch my mouth a certain way, it's also less noticeable. I just wanted to know what this could be and if it could be reversed. It's been totally messing with my self esteem bc I see al these girl around me ,same age, with no lines. I don't even like to look in the mirror anymore.
Answer: Laugh Lines Hi and thank you for your question. These lines/ folds can easily be treated with filler. The changes in color that you see is how the light is hitting your face, causing shadowing, which accentuates the laugh lines (nasolabial folds) as well as the corners of the mouth (marionette lines). With filler, we can smooth out the folds and give you the result you are looking for. Hope this is helpful. Best of luck!

Answer: Tangential Side) Lighting Makes Lines & Folds Appear More Prominent & Deeper First, you can calm down. Genetics, sleep patterns, sunlight exposure, and exposure to pollutants and cigarette smoke may all contribute to the development of lines and folds in the face and may accelerate the timeline for their development. From the photos, it would appear that there are fairly well-developed nasolabial (smile) lines and the beginnings of marionette (sad, bitter) lines at the angles of the mouth. The good news is that these can be easily treated with the use of injectable fillers. In my Manhattan office, I would likely choose Juvederm Ultra Plus XC for both these regions. (In my Israel satellite facility, where a far greater number of regulatory agency approved volumizers available, I would likely select Hylabel Deep for the smile lines and Princess Volume for the marionette lines. In experienced hands, the entire treatment should take no more than ten to fifteen minutes. So, hang in there, and be sure that you consult with a board certified aesthetic physician, and also be certain to ask to see his/her before and after photos before agreeing to proceed. Best of luck.

Answer: Improving Marionette Lines-- Lasers like Fraxel/Clear + Brilliant, RF like VIVA, Peels, Fillers, Skin Care, Face Lift, Fat A combination approach will give the most improvement. I recommend fillers for the folds themselves but also lifting around the mouth and cheeks to build underlying anatomical support. In our practice we combine sculptra with other fillers "layered" on top and lasers, rf treatments, J Plasma and peels to get the most conservative natural look. Please see a facial sculpting expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Dark lines The dark laugh lines can be improved depending on the cause of the color change. If there is extra pigment within the crease, bleaching creams or light/laser treatments can help remove the color. If the darkness is due to shadowing from the depth of the crease, then fillers can be used to help smooth that area out and blend the color. A combination therapy of filler and bleaching works even better. Hope this helps!Johnson C. Lee, MDBoard-Certified Plastic Surgeon@drjohnsonlee
