Dermatologist said that someone suffering from FPHL does not complain of shedding?

Without seeing your scalp, and knowing all your details I can't say what diagnosis or diagnoses you might have. However, I can offer a few general points. Women and men with androgenetic alopecia most certainly notice increased shedding in the early stages of hair loss. Biopsies also confirm and increased proportion of telogen hairs. Furthermore successful treatment reduces this shedding as any male of female with androgenetic alopecia will report. Reduction in shedding happens well ahead of changes (improvements) in density. Keep in mind that many things give increased shedding including telogen effluvium, alopecia areata, scarring alopecia and a variety of inflammatory systemic and scalp conditions. Body hair shedding does not occur in androgenetic alopecia.

It is actually typical for women to have both shedding and density/volume loss related to female patterned hair loss.  The hair cycle of the affected regions of the scalp change to where there is less hair in a normal growth phase.  As a result, there is more shedding and the remaining hair can become thinner through a process called miniaturization.  When I evaluate women with female patterned hair loss using a folliclescope to magnify the hair and scalp, I typically see empty follicles secondary to shedding and miniaturization.  My advise would be to see a hair restoration specialist to provide further diagnostic and treatment options.
