Shedding after switching from Propecia to Proscar?

I have used Propecia 1mg for 16 months without any improvents/maintenance. Two weeks ago I switched to Proscar, cutting it into 4 pieces. I have experiences a bit of a shedding this week. Should I go back to Propecia that did not help or should I try to stick with Proscar for now? In that case for how long?

In my opinion, if you're using brand name on both prescriptions there should not be a difference. I would consult with a hair loss expert to rule out other causes of your shedding.PRPHAIRMD.COM

Some men rarely shed after switching. You'll need to see your physician to decide what's best because there are many potential factors here. But for my own patients who shed after switching, I often advise to go back (provided this is the only factor in question).

Generic Proscar and Propecia are both finasteride and in the USA both trade name drugs and the generics are equivalent if you purchase them from a reputable pharmacy.

There should not be any difference between the two drugs as they are both made by Merck. Make sure the Proscar is not counterfeit
