This is a good question often asked by women. In general, it is NOT recommended to do any type of skin or body therapies with light , laser or radio frequency when pregnant. However, because skin will change and develop uneven skin discolorations during pregnancy, this will be something you might consider scheduling a few month after the baby arrives! It would be safe to do if breastfeeding.
Great question - I'm glad that you are thinking about it. BBL forever young is an awesome procedure - I really believe essentially everyone should decide to do this 2-4 times a year forever. It's like getting your teeth cleaned - the immediate and long term benefits are amazing. That being said, no one has ever done a study to see if it is safe in pregnancy. On a cognitive level, it seems unlikely to cause harm, but if was my pregnancy, I'd have to think seriously if it wasn't worth delaying my treatment until after delivery. Another consideration would be if a topical anesthetic cream were to be used that does absorb systemically and again has never been tested and would be the most likely part of the treatment to be undesirable.
Broadband light therapy or Intense pulse light has not been studied during pregnancy so we are not aware of its safety. In general, it is recommended to avoid BBL and other energy-based devices during pregnancy. Also, due to hormonal fluctuations during pregnancy, such a device can worsen or unmask melasma and other types of hyperpigmentation. I suggest you wait until your baby is delivered before proceeding with any cosmetic treatments.
Yes, this can be typical. It can take several weeks for BBL laser results to settle. I usually recommend a combination of treatments with BBL for best results. I suggest adding microneedling/prp, peels and skin care to improve skin quality and tone. I recommend following up with a cosmetic derma...
I would not recommend ANY elective procedures or surgery during pregnancy. It simply is not worth the risk to you or your baby.
It is difficult to answer your question because sensation varies greatly from person to person. It also depends if you had numbing cream applied prior to your treatment. Most of my patients feel some sort sensation, whether it's heat or burning or rubber bands snapping. On average,...
Hi and thank you for your question. PicoSure is hands down the best treatment for skin rejuvenation and can easily not only address your pigmentation with sun spots but its the only laser on the market clinically proved to stimulate collagen AND elastin, which can also tighten the skin,...
Thanks for the great question. There are a lot of different things going on here. For one, if a smaller adapter was used on your test spot, then they would have increased the energy to get through the adapter. Putting on the adapter decreases the amount of light which is able to get to the skin,...
MLP combined with BBL is a great treatment. What worries me is that you are seeking out the advice of physicians that you've never met over the office that performed your procedure to find out how to care for your skin afterward (a critical step to obtaining the best final result). You...
