Can IPL make rosacea worse? 2 weeks p.o. (photos)

I got IPL mostly to try to help with flushing. I also had some mild diffuse redness, which you can't really see very well in the before picture, but it was mostly in my cheeks. I'm 2 weeks post from my first IPL now, and it hasn't been a great experience. I swelled a lot, and felt very sunburnt around my eyes for several days after. In addition, 4 days after IPL, I started getting red itchy bumps all over my cheeks that haven't gone away. And my cheeks are now more red than before I had the IPL.

Keloids can be improved with a combination approach of fillers, lasers (pulsed dye/vbeam/yellow) and 5/FU steroids. Surgery with or without radiation is an alternative. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a scarring expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Thank you for your question, it is recommended to space IPL treatments out. 3-4 weeks is a common practice.

Thank you for your question. IPL is one of the top laser used to treat rosacea. IPL pulls pigmented and vascular lesions to the surface, therefore it  will intensify the rosacea temporarily and then it will go through your lymphatic system.
