Diagnosed with rosacea about 6 months ago. Using metrogel, have tried antibiotics, don't tolerate them. Tried propanolol for flushing, and isn't working. Skin has dramatically worsened in just 2 months, and nothing helps anymore. My derm suggested Accutane, but I'm a little hesitant. I was curious about trying IPL and I know you're not supposed to get IPL for awhile after using Accutane or while you're on it. Which would you try first? I have pretty sensitive skin, if that changes your answer.
Answer: Improving Rosacea with Clear + Brilliant, peels and VBeam/Yellow lasers, Botox/Xeomin/Dysport I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. For rosacea, I like a combination using lasers (ProYellow, Pulsed Dye/Vbeam, Excel V, Clear + Brilliant), peels and botox to the cheeks. This makes dramatic changes in color and symptoms. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: IPL or Accutane for rosacea? It is always difficult to make a recommendation just looking at pictures, but IPL, in my experience, is the best treatment for Rosacea. I would not use Accutane. You should consult with an experienced physician with years of expertise in laser technology. Also do not underestimate the role of diet and possible food allergies as a trigger for Rosacea.
