Will Invisalign fix my anterior crossbite? (Photo)

Question

I'm a 26 year old female with an anterior crossbite that I want to treat. According to my dentist, it stems mostly from the fact that my upper jaw is a bit narrow, but I also have a very slight underbite. She has said my molar relationship is good. One of my main concerns is that my lower jaw has deviated slightly to the right (see photo, midline doesn't line up) and my chin looks asymmetrical as a result. Could Invisalign correct my bite and the asymmetry in my face?

Judging from your pictures, Invisalign will probably not fix your bite.  Inivisalign is best for closing spaces and resolving crowding.  I would recommend that you find a cosmetic dentist with experience in cosmetic cases because this is not a basic case. Then look at the cosmetic dentist's website before and after photo galleries to get a sense of if they can deliver the results you want. Your case seems pretty straight forward for a typical cosmetic case at my office, but may prove difficult at others. Invisalign can correct your anterior crossbite but will accomplish this by changing the angle of your front teeth NOT by fixing the real cause of the crossbite (an underdeveloped upper dental arch). My suggestion would be to wear an arch-developing appliance (Saggital, Shwarz, DNA, Homeoblock, etc.) for 4-6 months to properly develop the upper arch and then use Invisalign to straighten your teeth. You may even decide that after arch development your teeth are straight enough (some straightening of teeth will occur during arch development). Or you can further straighten your teeth after arch development with Invisaling.Good luck!
