Can I get veneers over a front tooth that had a root canal a few years ago?

I have had root canal treatment in one of my front teeth due to a skiing accident a few years back, the other is partially chipped. I was wondering if it would be smart to get a veneer placed on top of the tooth that has already had root canal done or if it would be too invasive? I know there is the option of bonding with the filling but that is pretty expensive to have to get done every 5 years and from what I’ve read about it, the results aren’t always that great compared to veneers. Great question! You could definitely get a veneer on this tooth, depending on how it looks now and a few other factors that your dentist will evaluate. Because it has had a root canal, the tooth is inherently weaker and may be better serve with a crown instead. But don't worry, crowns and veneers are identical in their appearance in the smile, the only difference is that a crown covers the whole tooth and a veneer just the front. Hope that helps!

Veneers are absolutely safe on a previous root canal tooth. A better option will be a dental crown. Crown is more protective for a root canaled tooth.
