I am 14 weeks post op (Full TT and BA)... and I have purpura in my thighs (I have already seen a doctor). I'm getting blood work results later today but is it possible to have internal bleeding 3.5 months post op? I have issues with bleeding and my would did not heal until 6 weeks post op (at least externally) Should I inform my surgeon of my developed condition?
Answer: Bleeding 3.5 Months after your Surgery
This is certainly an unusual occurrence but anything is possible. Always return to the original surgeon as the/she knows what was done and it may be something rather simple to diagnose. Going to a new physician or ER (if you are not in immediate danger) may result in a battery of unneeded scans and tests, as they are not familiar with your procedure and want to cover their bases; that they did everything possible. It may be you had a hematoma (collection of old blood in a pocket) somewhere higher up in the abdomen after the surgery that loculated itself into a pocket that after the clots liquefied and the pocket broke from activity and healing the old blood drained down leaving your thighs with the ecchymosis (black and blue ) you are noticing in your thighs. Again see your surgeon who will be best at advising you.

Answer: Bleeding 3.5 months after surgery
It would be very unlikely to have internal bleeding associated with your surgical procedure 3.5 months after surgery. Please notify/visit your plastic surgeon. I think you should see your internist or PCP for a full work-up.

Answer: Bleeding after 3.5 months
It is not normal to be bleeding 3.5 months after your surgery. It is most likely unrelated to your surgery. You should go see your primary care doctor to get blood work and for him/her to examine you. Best wishes.

Answer: Bleeding 3 months after Tummy Tuck
I have not heard of bleeding 3 months after a tummy tuck. This is very unusual and I would definitely recommend informing your plastic surgeon such that they can evaluate you carefully.
Based on your history of bleeding issues, I would recommend discussion with your PCP of a bleeding disorder workup to be safe. Best wishes.
