We have an infrared sauna where I can control the heat level (75-150 degrees). I’d like to use it to detox all of the anesthesia and post op meds out of my body. Is there any insight on being able to begin using this if I set the temperature at a lower setting than what is typical? I’m 3wks post op.

Answer: Breast Augmentation Recovery Austin. I do not recommend any sort of sauna treatment after breast augmentation surgery for at least one month to allow your body to heal. The human body will detox all anesthesia medications on its own, and sauna therapy is not needed and can be harmful. Follow up with your board-certified plastic surgeon to confirm my advice. Good luck.

Answer: Sauna Hello and thank you for your question. I typically recommend that patients wait until they are COMPLETELY healed (i.e., at least 2 weeks after surgery) before going into a sauna, or going swimming.Best, Jon Ver Halen, MD FACS Harvard educated plastic surgeon Texas “Top Doc” RealSelf100 America’s Top Plastic Surgeons, Consumer’s Research Council
