Question

If 17 month post op patient has had (from transplant) vellus hair (no growth) for 4 months in transplant recipient area, is it possible hair will never reach terminal status?

It can take 6 to 12 months after surgery to see results.  If you are concerned it is best to contact your doctor

onyx54,Wish that you provided high resolution before and after pictures. Hair transplants take time to grow out. Sturdies and personal experience show that most growth takes place between 4-12 months post surgery but there can be some further maturation with thickening of results between 12-18 months post hair transplant.All the best, Bernardino A. It is highly unlikely that a vellus hair will turn into a terminal hair 17 months after a procedure.  While you may see an occasional hair grow 18 months after a procedure, most of the hair will grow by 8 to 12 months.  It is exceedingly uncommon to see new hair growth after 18 months.  The good news is that with sonicated PRP we are seeing up to 80% growth from the grafts at 3 1/2 months.
