The excel V is a KTP laser and the V beam is a pulse dye laser with a very similar profile to the KTP. The are both excellent for treating red scars. The V beam is an older technology which docent mean its not good it has an excellent track record. The KTP on the excel V will do the same job the only difference is the V beam may cause more purpura or temporary red/purple bruising around the red scar where as the Excel V may not have this happen. If you found a physician with either of these systems you can treat your red scar with the probability of a nice outcome.
There is always swelling with the Excel V laser treatments. It will not affect tear trough or fat. Perhaps some topical steroids will be helpful.
