I was told by my provider to not use anything on my skin . She stated that if I applied anything on my skin it would most likely clog my pores. She notified me my skin would heal on its own . After reading that most doctors on this website do recommend some type of after care treatment , I'm starting to question my providers knowledge.
Answer: Microneedling post care Dear emilopez, As your skin is healing it's imperative to protect it from the sun and keep it moisturized all day. Do not allow your skin to dry out. I typically recommend a gentle moisturizer like CeraVe or a nice non-comedogenic oil from Peter Thomas Roth that is light and contains no harsh ingredients. You will find that you’re very dry after Microneedling and you need to apply moisturizer more often, this is very normal. Hope this helps. Best, Shamim

Answer: Aftercare for microneedling Hi, I love this question. The best after care treatment for microneedling for acne scars is Skinmedica TNS recovery complex. It has growth factors that actually help the collagen refill the acne scars. Using this serum twice a day before and after microneedling improves microneedling results dramatically. Best, Dr. M

Answer: Microneedling and acne scars After microneedling for acne scars, I would recommend PRP or growth factor. After 24 hours a gentle cleanser, moisturizer and a physical sunscreen. Once the skin is healed would resume your routine skin care which should include a retinoid.

Answer: Aftercare That is very concerning to me that you were instructed to not use anything on your skin. After the microneedling procedure, your skin is like an open wound and should be treated accordingly. This is the perfect time to use professional grade skincare products to help heal your skin and further your benefits. You should use a recovery kit of some sort and be sure to stay away from any active ingredients in products that may cause irritation. For the first few days after procedure, you will want to use a very gentle, approved cleanser and then a topical that will help seal in moisture and heal at the same time. In my practice, we provide our patients with an Epionce recovery kit. The following weeks and months during your treatment period and after, you should include professional grade products to not only help your skin heal but give yourself long, lasting results.

Answer: Best post care for microneedling procedure? Hi emilopez, The day after microneedling, we recommended not applying anything on the face. In the following days, it would be fine to use non-irritating skincare like Cerave. From the 3rd-5th day, use more gentle formulations than you used before microneedling since your skin is still very sensitive. Start using sunblock. Continue using Cerave to moisturize or use TNS Recovery Complex or HA5. You can start using weaker formulations of Vit. C, retinoic acid etc. a week post -microneedling.All the best, Justin Harper, M.D.
