If you place the implant behind the muscle and continue to do chest exercises can you increase the chance of a rupture or silent rupture? Can there be an increase with capsular contracture with placing the implant behind the muscle and continuing to do exercises for the chest due to the implant potentially agitating the tissue when the pectoral muscle is being activated during an exercise? Has anyone seen this happen with bodybuilders they have done work on? Or heard about this?
Answer: Are there an increase in ruptures with placing implant under the muscle? #implant rupture Thank you for your question! We often place breast implants under the muscle to decrease the risk of capsular contracture. As far as placement in body builders, ideally it would be better to place the implant on top of the muscle to prevent changes in the shape of the breast with contraction of the muscle. On the other hand, the implants have a higher capsular contracture rate and most serious body builders have such a low body fat percentage that visualizing the implants is easier and they don't look as natural. There is no increase in rupture rates when placed under the muscle. I hope this helps to answer your question!!

Answer: Breast implant location Breast implants placed subpectoral(under the muscle) have a lower incidence of capsular contracture. The rupture rate is not higher under the muscle. If you are a bodybuilder, then it may be an option to place the implant subglandular (on top of the muscle) since this will prevent the implant from moving during contraction or posing.Consult with a few plastic surgeons in person for a more detailed exam and review of your goals.Best wishes,Dr.Bruno

Answer: Rupture No, there is not. I recommend an in-office examination as well as a detailed discussion with a surgeon who you are comfortable with. Finally, make sure your surgeon is a Double-Board Certified Plastic Surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS), a member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).Best,Dr. DesaiBeverly Hills Institute for Aesthetic Plastic SurgeryHarvard Educated, Beverly Hills & Miami Beach TrainedDouble Board-Certified, Double Fellowship-Trained Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Does Submuscular Implant Placement Break Implants. There is no evidence that placing a breast implant beneath the muscle can lead to implant breakage. Nor is there any evidence that capsular contracture rated rise with submuscular placement. In fact, the contracture rate seems lower. Yes, there are reasons to place implants above the muscle, but that is patient and situation specific. You need to speak with an experience board certified plastic surgeon and discuss your options. No such thing as a dumb question. The more that you know, the better you'll be at designing your operation. Best of luck.
