Silimed breast implants relates to BIA-ALCL. Is there a heightened risk?

Hi, I have Silimed textured breast implants. I have seen the concerns around BIA-ALCL. Is there a heightened risk? My right breast feels slightly harder than the left, is this normal? Or should I be worried? Thank you

Thank you for sharing your excellent question.  I would recommend visiting your surgeon for an in-person evaluation of your tissues and implant.  BIA-ALCL has only been seen in patients who had, or have, textured implants, and if you are having issues, you should be seen.  Fortunately the likelihood of BIA-ALCL is extremely small, and most likely a capsular contracture has caused the harder feeling but see your surgeon for at least reassurance.  Hope this helps.

If you are concerned about your implants feeling harder, you may have capsular contracture. Seek the advice of a board certified plastic surgeon and discuss your concerns. Although less likely, ALCL can be ruled out as well.

The diagnosis you are talking about is real, but very rare.  A visit to your doctor to discuss this is a great idea.  Your symptoms are not exactly ones associated, more likely a capsular contracture, and this might mean having the capsule removed, along with both implants, place smooth implants and you have solved the worries!
