Can liposuction of the abdomen be done in office? I am looking for circumferential/aggressive lipo.

While liposuction of the abdomen can be done in the office, it depends on how much you are looking to have done. I have done many in office liposuction procedures in the office under just oral sedation and tumescent fluid injection for comfort, but I will say if the patient needs a lot of liposuction done, it is a much more pleasant experience for the patient to have either a deep sedation or general anesthesia, which is where the additional fees come in. Certainly I do all my liposuction procedures outpatient, but there are limits to this which should be discussed with your surgeon. Usually when surgeons suggest general anesthesia it is not motivated by using their own OR, or money, it is for your results, safety and comfort. When they are suggesting general anesthesia, they are not getting those additional fees, someone else is.
