"For glabellar lines (or frown lines / ""11"" lines), we inject Botox, Xeomin, or Dysport into the muscle, causing the muscle to weaken and improving the appearance of the lines. These work by binding to receptors that send nerve signals for muscles to contract. Since your body makes new receptors and neurotransmitters all the time, it needs to be maintained otherwise the wrinkles will slowly return as the muscle regains function over time. Neurotoxins take 2 to 4 weeks to start working and lasts for up to 6 months. For deeper glabella lines or strong 11s, I use a combination of Botox with fillers, lasers and microneedling with PRP. I suggest getting a formal evaluation with an experienced cosmetic dermatologist and expert in lasers and fillers. Best, Dr. Emer"
Hi mitch2558The horizontal forehead lines give the appearance of being worried, concerned, and older. They are caused by the frontalis muscle which normally acts to raise the eyebrows. BOTOX can keep you younger for longer by quieting hyperactive facial muscles. Adding facial volume by adding facial fillers can improve the effect dramatically. Hi and thank you for your question! In short, whenever lines are wrinkles are caused (or worsened) by contraction of muscles underneath them, Botox (and other medications in this family, Xeomin, Dysport and Jeuveau) will help to smooth them out. As we age more, we also more collagen (and volume) so other treatments to stimulate collage (e.g. Ultherapy) and add volume to skin (e.g. fillers) also work to get even better results and supplement the Botox treatments. I hope it helps and good luck!
Hi, thanks for your question. I highly recommend that you consult an experienced injector in person in order to assess whether this would be the right treatment for your needs. That said, it's never too late to get Botox.
It is important to understand that Botox (as well as its competitors Dysport and Xeomin) only work against dynamic wrinkles, i.e. wrinkles that come with facial expression muscle movements. These include forehead worry lines; crow's feet wrinkles around the sides of the eyes; and frown lines between the eyebrows. Fillers, on the other hand, work on wrinkles, jowls and sagging that have developed as etched-in creases (following years of creasing the skin by facial muscle movements), as well as for improving sagging and jowl formation in the cheeks and lower third of the face that have come about through volume loss and gravity. So, in short, Botox (perhaps aided by filler) for the upper face dynamic wrinkles and their resultant creases and volumizing and lifting fillers for mid to lower face jowls and folds. And all of the above can be done at any age, so long as you are in good general health. Make sure to consult with a board certified aesthetic physician and be absolutely certain to ask to see his/her personal befores and afters before agreeing to proceed. Best of luck.
No matter the age, Botox can help dynamic lines. Those are lines caused by excessive muscle motion such as the lines in the forehead and around the eyes. The lines around your mouth are most likely not going to be improved with botox, but filler (a gel that can injected into wrinkles) can often do wonders for lip lines.Andrew Campbell, M.D.Facial Rejuvenation SpecialistQuintessa
Hello, thank you for your question. It is hard to tell without proper photos, schedule a consultation to see a local expert injector with extensive experience and training to ensure optimal results and safety.
Thank you for sharing your question and photograph. It can definitely help, but an in-person examination to offer the best recommendations will be needed.
Absolutely botox will help. It is never too late to start. It will help to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and soften them. Hope this helps!
Botulinum toxin relaxes the muscles that causes the wrinkles in forehead, frown and crows feet, i always use it in those 3 areas and my patients love to smooth the wrinkles in those areas because it causes a more relaxed and refreshed look. I suggest to start with low dose in those areas and sometimes you can have a subtle brow lift too. Dont forget to go with an expert and set a plan suited for you. Best luck.
