How long should I stay after my BBL?

Recommend that you ask for your surgeon's opinion regarding boarding a three-hour flight on the fourth day following BBL surgery.  I recommend that my BBL patients remain in LA for at least a week in a near-by location for follow-up and recuperation.  Our office offers the services of a LPN to stay with out of town patients who are not accompanied by a family member or friend who can be with them during the first few days of recovery.  Sitting for prolonged periods of time on an airplane could cause side-effects such as blood clots.  Kenneth B. I recommend you have surgery close to home so that you can get appropriate post-op care and you can avoid traveling.

Thank you for your question about post-operative care following BBL procedure. Our clinic often has patients who are from out of town, and we ask that they stay in a hotel or with a friend or family member for approximately 1 week after surgery. There is also an increased risk of developing a blood clot/DVT since you have just had surgery and you will be sitting on the flight for three hours.For patients that get a BBL with implants, we recommend our patients to not sit directly on their implants for 1-2 weeks. For patients who get only a BBL, they can sit directly on their butt after 1 week.
