Zoom whitening chemical burns on my gums. How long until it heals? (photos)

Every time a caustic chemical is introduced in the mouth every possible barrier and protection should be used to prevent chemical burning of the mouths sensitive soft tissues ie. lips, gums, cheeks and tongues.Unfortunately, every now and then some material can cause reversible damage to these structures.  Warm rinses of water with 1 Tbs of salt 4-6 times a day with Vit E oil and 1-2 days will almost always do the trick.  If the chemical burn from the bleaching material, like in your case, is still present after 5 days a trip back to your dentist is warranted.  Some areas may be infected and may need prescription antibiotics/steroids.

I have been using Zoom whitening products and treatments in my office for years, having performed many hundreds over the course of this time. I have never encountered damage to the gums to the extent visible in your photos. Thankfully, your gums should heal up just fine with a little time. If after 2-3 weeks you still have concerns, I would get a second opinion from a dental care provider.Best of luck,James Asaf, DDS

All the time is necesary to put a barrier in the gums to protect it. The gum ussually heal in 5-6 days, if not you need go with your dentist to a check up.
