Hi there,Sorry to hear that you're having this issue. It sounds like your tongue may have been a little sunburned (for lack of a better descriptor). This will wear off relatively quickly, like burning your tongue drinking hot tea or coffee. I would recommend telling your dentist about this and possibly getting a script for ibuprofen or asking him/her about taking over-the-counter ibuprofen to help manage this pain for a 1-2 days. Good luck and I hope this helps. Follow me if you have more questions.Sarah Thompson, DMD
There are instances where patients do not close onto the bite retraction block in the mouth and therefore the light can shine into the mouth hitting the tongue. This light intensity can cause mild burning of soft tissues like cheeks, tongue and lips. Some Motrin or Advil and keeping away from hot and spicy foods for 3 days should do the trick. If there is still burning or redness of the tongue a trip back to your dentist is warranted.Good Luck!
