My bruising seems to be getting worse after 3 days. Should I be concerned?

I am a 65 year old who had Restylane injections in my lips 3 days ago. The bruising seems to be spreading along the lips and underneath the lip. What can I do, and , should I be concerned?

Bruising after filler injection to lips is common. It can appear to get worse if the patient is on blood thinners/takes asprin/ takes vitamin E/ drinks red wine/ takes ginkgo. Ice immediately after injection helps. Taking suppliments containing arnika help as well. If it continues to worsen, consult your injecting physician

Bruising around the lips is fairly common. This may or may not be normal. Best to be seen in person to be sure.

Bruising after any injection can occur. This is usually more pronounced around the lips and can last 5-7 days. As with any bruise, gravity will take effect and the bruise will move down South. If one takes a blood thinner at the time of treatment, which is not recommended, this can be more pronounced. Ice can be helpful if used during the first 24-48 hours.Hope this help! Dr. Bader
