What can be done to treat pink skin after a chemical peel? (Photo)

Hello I did a chemical peel four days ago. I’ve only been peeling when I was my face. And I see that on my right cheek and chin I have pink skin. It’s a big dry and it burns but not terribly bad. My question is will this scar and become darker? I know you’re not supposed to pick it but I accidentally did in that same area so it could’ve peeled too early because of me. And should I be worried about my skin being pink? Thank you for your time.

Hello Sa151017,With chemical peels it is always best to follow up with your treating physician.  We each have our own recommendations about what to do following treatment to allow the pink to go away the quickest.  You also mentioned you are picking at the peeling area.  This does increase the risk of scarring and should be avoided.  I'd recommend you follow up with your treating physician for more specific recommendations.

Make sure you stay out of the sun and keep the skin hydrated. Try not to pick the area because that will make the healing process slower.

Whenever your skin is pink after a procedure, make sure you protect that area from the sun. Keep applying moisturizer on your face so that your skin doesn't dry out. This will make your peeling process feel more comfortable.

Pink is the color of skin healing after a chemical burn. This will lighten over time. For faster results, good old fashioned aloe vera gel heals this kind of burn as effectively as sunburns.
