What is the best treatment for an allergic reaction to surgery tape after breast augmentation? (4 weeks po)

I had ba four weeks ago and at my two week post op follow up, when the tapes were removed from the incision site, I developed an allergic reaction. I was told by my ps to purchase cortisone cream. I purchased the cream and used twice a day and the rash did go away from the incision area but I have recently started the itch in the center (between my breasts) I have been putting the cortisone cream but it is not working. I have an appt scheduled today with my ps but id like to get different opinions.

If hydrocortisone cream is not working There are stronger topical steroids available(Temovate). Severe cases might require systemic steroids but on balance this is only rarely necessary.

Removing the tape and using a topical steroid usually resolves allergies caused by surgical tapes.  Often, a stronger prescription strength steroid is needed.  However, since this itching and rash are new and now between the breasts, this may not be the same tape allergy.  It is possible that this is a heat rash or a mild fungal rash.  Your surgeon should be able to help you sort this out and prescribe a simple solution.  Best of luck.
