Asymptomatic hemorrhoids should not be an issue, but it is best to inform your PS. Following surgery you will not be applying pressure to your buttocks. I recommend that my patients minimize sitting, even with a pillow, for the first two weeks. If you are not quite regular after surgery, adding a stool softener, increasing your fluid intake, adding fiber, or using a suppository can be of benefit as well as reducing your narcotic intake.
Dear tibbs0322,hemorrhoids are not a contraindication for surgery. If you have any concerns, I suggest you to discuss them with your plastic surgeon. Most likely the biggest issue for you will be taking narcotic pain medication after surgery which tends to make everybody constipated. It may be worthwhile to discuss it with your plastic surgeon.I suggest increasing dietary fiber with supplements like meta-Meusel or any other source of psyllium husk while taking narcotic pain medications.Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
