Can you continue to have severe congestion even 2 weeks after turbinate reduction?

Your turbinates are likely still swollen and may have crusts that are blocking your airway.  It will take time, but contact your surgeon if you still have questions since they know exactly what technique was performed.

Please discuss techniques with your surgeon to reduce congestion - nasal spray and your antibiotic routine should ease the congestion. Congestion post nasal surgery is quite common, including turbinate reduction.  Decreasing initial turbinate swelling is often best done using either a nasal steroid or nasal antihistamine, but check with your surgeon to determine what is best for your case.  Avoid the use of Afrin as it may create rebound nasal congestion, termed rhinitis medicamentosa.  Best Dr. Anil Shah

It is not uncommon to still have swelling after surgery causing nasal congestion after this procedure. It may take up to 6 weeks for symptoms to clear.

It is common to have swelling and congestion after turbinate reduction.  This will gradually improve as the swelling resolves.  It is important to speak to your surgeon about the appropriate post-operative regimen.

Hello RazaShabbir,There are various ways to reduce the size of the turbinates.  Some of these ways work more quickly than others.  In addition, any surgery will lead to inflammation.  As the area is inflamed it can lead to more congestion.  I would recommend you follow up with your surgeon to evaluate your turbinates and make sure they are healing well.  I would not recommend Afrin as it not only affects the healing but can have rebound and lead to greater inflammation.I hope this helps and good luck.
