Breast implant pinching pain - Is this a sign of a Rupture? (photo)

HI,First , it is difficult to assess any complaint such as this without a personal exam by an experienced PS. With that caveat, it is unusual to feel pain from a silicone rupture unless you performed some excessive muscular activity or experienced trauma in the area. The pain is more likely to be due to lifting the baby or stretching with a small amount of damage to the muscle or capsule around the implant. From such an injury, you can be developing a small capsule ( scar tissue) around the implant. This can also cause a small irritation of the nerves around the implant.In any case, it would be best for you to see a PS in your area for a physical exam and perhaps an MRI to determine if your implant is ruptured. DO NOT panic! It is unlikely that the implants are ruptured, but it will ease your mind if you get the physical exam and MRI.Enjoy your new baby!Best,Dr. Christine Rodgers

Pain and shape change go more with capsular contracture than rupture, but there are other benign causes of that as well. See your plastic surgeon, get an exam, and possibly and ultrasound or MRI to figure out what is going on. 

Most of the time implant failure is not associated with a great deal of pain. There can be a change in shape or a slight loss of volume if associated with a capsule contracture. I would recommend evaluation by your plastic surgeon to fully evaluate your breast pain. An ultrasound or MRI may be required to fully evaluate the integrity of the implants. Please select a plastic surgeon board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and preferably a member of ASAPS (American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons).

Thank you for your question and congratulations on the new baby!  Seeing your OB is definitely a good idea, but I would also encourage you to follow up with your local board certified plastic surgeon.  It is likely that your OB or PS will recommend imaging/scans to rule out the possibility of an implant rupture.  I hope that this helps!
