I’ve been taking a high dose since childhood. Is it safe to take adderall prior to general anesthesia? I’ve been taking a high dose since childhood or should I stop taking it completely before the surgery?

Every surgeon and anesthesiologist will have their own surgical protocol they develop. Therefore nobody here can tell you whether you will need to stop or not when having surgery with someone outside of their practice. That said, my personal protocol is to stop all medications 2 weeks prior to surgery as to not interfere with the administering of your general anesthesia.

This includes prescription, over the counter, and recreational medications as well as supplements.  Your surgeon will advise which are okay to continue and which need to be stopped.
