Hello, the surgeon I'm considering to do my surgery has 27 years of experience. He recommends NO surgical bra of any type until 1mo. post op. He says he has had more natural results with this method. I'm thinking sleeping would be an issue as breast can spread to the sides? I'm currently a 34A and getting 425cc silicone implants under the muscle.
Answer: No surgical bra after breast augmentation? i personally ask my patients to wear a bra for a month following the surgery. However, I am not aware of any scientific controlled studies proving the benefits of this and would therefore not criticize surgeons who don't have this in their protocol.

Answer: Trust the experience While using a surgical bra is logical, there is not specific data that says that using a surgical bra postoperatively prevents lateral displacement of the implant or guarantees good results. If his surgeon has good results and has been doing breast augmentation surgery for 27 years, I would trust their expertise and experience.

Answer: Surgical bra I recommend my patients use a surgical bra during recovery. This helps to provide support to healing tissues and helps to control swelling. Each surgeon will have her/his own protocol.

Answer: Wearing a bra Thank you for your question. I feel obligated to answer this question. That makes absolutely no sense. Gravity is always working. A large portion of my practice is dedicated to revision breast surgery. One of the most common problems I see is lateral malposition of implants-breast lying to the side. I believe that one of the major causes for this is not wearing a bra at nighttime. I would choose a different surgeon.

Answer: Postoperative protocol Dear mddid, I understand your concern. It is best that you consult your plastic surgeon regarding post operative care and management (i.e including massage techniques and timing) specific to your case. Your surgeon knows your condition well and has preferences on when and what to use for faster healing and recovery. Post operative care and management depends on the type of surgery performed and the technique used during surgery among other factors. It is best, however, that you follow your plastic surgeon's advice on post operative care management for a smooth and faster healing and recovery.
