I’ve had dark circles under my eyes since I was born. The skin under my eyes creates a hollow. I want to correct this. I’ve heard people say fillers can fix it but what specific type? Will there be migration?
Answer: Need to come in to consult For unique cases where a variety of modalities could be used to treat the condition, I would suggest an in person or virtual consultation to develop a custom and effective treatment plan. It is difficult to precisely define the best option without collecting the same information. I suggest reaching out to an expert for a consultation with surgical and non-surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Tear Trough Hi @timidgirl12344! There are non-surgical options to help with hollowing of the tear troughs. The first option is tear trough fillers. I usually inject Juvederm Voluma or Restylane Defyne. Another great option would be PRP injections. Platelet Rich Plasma is a natural and non-surgical solution to treat under eye circles and bags. Generally, two vials of blood will be collected from the patient and placed into a centrifuge. The centrifuge spins and separates the platelets from the rest of the blood components. The plasma contains the valuable collagen and growth factors from the rest of the blood's components. The plasma is then drawn up into a syringe and injected in the tear trough area. Typically, 3-6 sessions is adequate for optimal results.

Answer: Under eye filler Restylane works nicely under the eyes, but each patient is evaluated individually. See an experienced injector to learn more. I've included a video I hope you find helpful.

Answer: Absolutely! Hi there! This is a great question and actually my favorite thing to treat. If the darkness under your eyes is due to hollowing then yes, filler will help, because the additional fullness will allow light to reflect more easily off your skin, therefore making it appear brighter. However, if the darkness is actual pigmentation then the filler will not help, and may actually make it appear darker. Oftentimes, in persons with darker skin, a little of both is present, and so a combination of filler and a bleaching cream is the best course of action. The first step is to visit a provider that is experienced in treating the under eye area to determine if you are a good candidate. If so, I would start with a small amount of filler; no more than one syringe, and my preferred filler for this area is Restylane-L. While migration is possible, it is not something I commonly see in this area, unless the patient has had it treated multiple times, and it is over-filled. I hope this helps and wish you the best of luck.

Answer: Dark circles under the eyes There are several reasons why patients notice "dark circles" under their eyes. The skin of the lower lid can actually be darker with more pigmentation than the surrounding skin. In addition, there can be a slight valley or depression that catches tangential light and casts a shadow. It appears that both may be contributing to your "dark circles." I would recommend a soft hyaluronic acid filler like Juvederm or Restylane first. Then with the regular use of a bleaching cream, (like Obaji's eye cream), hopefully you will feel better about the lower lids.
