The short answer is yes. Medications are ingested and then travel throughout most of the body. Pretty much any side effect is possible, even if it isn't well known or common. Genetic mutatations in families affect how your body processes and responds to medications, although may not be common are still possible. I have known a few other clients with a similar experience of developing spider veins especially on the face and chest, and even Rosacea after Methotrexate. However, many of those patients ALSO have an auto-immune disorder that is causing inflammation in the body. These types of auto-immune disorders frequently cause an increase in spider veins on the face and chest. Without knowing why you started the medication, I would infer you either were diagnosed with a new condition or developed more symptoms and needed to change to this medication? So it may be exacerbated by medication, disease, sun exposure, and the thinning skin of aging. We have had great response to these red vessels with our Vivace microneedling with radiofrequency and red light therapy We noticed while using this machine for skin tightening, smoothing of fine lines and wrinkles, tightening of pores, and reduction in scarring, that our patients also had a significant reduction in redness and spider veins. From there, we developed the "magic setting" where we seem to see the most reduction in redness, even after one treatment. This was particularly true for patients that had been having laser treatments for years and the vessels had persisted. I highly recommend Vivace!
