Does laser genesis feel like and sound like rubber bands being snapped on your skin? Leave small burn marks?

Hi, Thank you for your question. Laser Genesis is an Nd-YAG 1064 laser that is used in the defocused mode. The object of the treatment is to heat the skin just to the point of discomfort and then stop. When given by an experienced operator, you should not sustain burns as a result of treatment. This is a good question. Laser genesis is a very comfortable treatment.  The laser is used to heat up the tissue /collagen gradually.  Most patients describe it like a warm massage.  The energy from an IPL is delivered in quick bursts energy which some patients find uncomfortable.

IPL can have a rubber band snapping feeling for some people, especially with increased energies, so at my office we offer topical numbing and a chiller. However, Laser Genesis is a YAG laser which is totally different - IPL is a light. Laser Genesis is waved above the skin's surface. Most people say that it feels like warm water on the skin and find the treatment enjoyable.
