I got fascia from my buttock to raise the bridge and ear cartilage for tip projection. It's been 3 weeks and I satisfy with my height of my tip, but the part between my eyes is too high that make my face looks masculine and unnatural for Asian standard. Will my radix eventually drop or it's going to stay like this?
Answer: Radix Swelling after Asian Rhinoplasty It is still much to early to worry about the bridge appearing too high. One of the biggest challenges for patients after rhinoplasty is the patience required for the swelling to go down. This can be quite variable in different people as some people have very little swelling, while others have more swelling for a longer period of time. As a generalization, I tell patients that approximately 80% of the swelling will resolved in approximately 3 months. The last 20% can take up to a year or longer. You may also notice that some days you have more swelling after you had some improvement. This can happen and don't let it discourage you. Over time, the swelling will improve.

Answer: It should come down with time 3 weeks after surgery is still a short time for the swelling to come down. Typically about 2/3 of the swelling goes away by one month and it often takes about 6 month to 1 year for the swelling to completely go away. And if your dorsum was augmented with likely a dermal fat graft from the buttock then it will also go down from the partial absorption that happesn with dermal fat grafts.

Answer: 3 weeks is early for evaluating the radix Dermal fascial grafts and other soft tissue grafts take a long time for the swelling to go down. I prefer a solid rib because it has the least amount of temporary fluid and is quicker to reach the final shape. Dermal fat grafts may take months to get to a reasonable size.

Answer: Too early to tell Hello! Swelling can be quite prominent at 3 weeks post op. Fascial grafts may hold onto the swelling a bit longer compared to implants. The radix area should appear less swollen over the next 4-8 weeks. Be patient! Goretti H. Taghva MD

Answer: Still too early. You are still early in your recovery period and the nose is expected to be quite swollen at this point. The swelling during this time is rarely symmetric. One side will always resolve more quickly than the other. The majority of the swelling will resolve in 3-6 months, and will continue to resolve as your nose heals for up to 1-2 years. You have not reached your final shape as the nose will continue to heal and reduce in size for up to a year. Once it does reach its final shape you may be more pleased with the appearance of your nose.
