Answer: Am I a candidate for skin tightening after major weight loss? Congratulations on your weight loss -- a major accomplishment and you should be proud of yourself. You now not only look much better -- you are indeed much healthier! When significant weight is lost, the skin cannot tighten up as well -- it's elasticity has been lost. Therefore, it is common for there to be loose, hanging skin and also residual, stubborn pockets of fat. The exact pattern is different from one person to another.Yes, it is possible to "trim your birthday suit" and understand it will probably require several operations to address all areas of concern. It will also be a trade-off of scars for a tighter, trimmer shape -- but most folks willingly make that trade. You should be at your lowest and most stable weight before considering any surgery. Would then suggest you visit several board certified plastic surgeons -- the consult fees will be worth it because you will gain much insight into what can be done and what your options are.I would be pleased to meet with you to discuss various possible treatments.Elliot W.
