Small notch in my bottom eyelid waterline after small chalazion removal (Photo)

Question

I just had an ophthalmologist remove a small bump from my waterline about 6 days ago (yes I know it’s still healing). The scab from having it cauterized after the surgery has already fallen off but there is a small notch where the scab was. Is the notch normal, will the notch fill in when it heals more, or will I have to get a revision after it’s fully healed?

The vast majority of chalazia respond beautifully to a kenalog injection and never require surgery. Ophthalmologist are not reimbursed well for doing the steroid injection so sadly surgery gets pushed instead. The bad thing is that these surgeries often harm the eyelid. This fresh injury will continue to heal and the redness will fade but is will take many weeks. You may also be left with a slight waterline change. Even that will get better in time.
