Why are Motiva implants higher in volume than Natrelle?

When comparing Motiva specs to those of Natrelle Inspira, I see that for essentially the same implant width and projection, the Motiva has significantly higher volume than the Natrelle. Why is this? Where is the extra volume held?

using 3D breast implant imaging you can see differences between Allergan and Motiva implants.  Each manufacturer uses their own protocols for implant manufacturing.  Motiva has an integrated gel-shell interface which may explain some of the differences in volume.

Thanks for you question.  When comparing dimensions, width and projection are only 2 measurements, and they don't take the shape of the device into account.  Picture a triangle and a semicircle with the same width and projection - the semicircle will have much more volume due to fullness in the "shoulders".  That's where the volume is in the Motiva implants and is simply due to a different shape in the mandrels used to form the implants.
