I'm wondering why my body is continuing to produce fluid without absorption and what to expect? (Photo)

My tummy tuck was 8/26, drains out after 2 weeks, less than 25cc per day. Less than a week later had to start drawing fluid from my abdomen area. He decided in 9/13 to take me back to OR to clean it all out, he put some stitches in the cavity, if I remember correctly, to help close the space and put drains back in. They are not slowing down at all and I'm at 5 weeks. To make matters worse, last week I learned that I have developed a blood clot in my groin and was started on Xarelto.

Thank you for your pictures. For collections can occur and sometimes require additional drainage tubes to be placed for a prolonged period of time. The best management would be allowing the fluid collection to decreased to 25 mL per day, continued use of your binder and modest activity at best.

Sorry to hear of your post operative complications.  Your surgeon appears to be addressing things in a prudent manner.  Only your surgeon knows what types of sutures he has used and exactly what he has done, so keep following his instructions.  Blood thinners complicate your care even further.  Be patient. Hang in there!!

Seroma (fluid collection) is not an unusual complication of tummy tuck surgery.  That is why drains may be used in the first place.  Small seromas may resolve on their own.I usually start with needle aspiration of the seroma, or placing a seroma catheter in the cavity.  Persistent or recurrent seromas may require re-operation.  There are some techniques used to minimize the chance of seroma development, including quilting sutures or sclerosing agents.  It sounds like you are being managed appropriately.  I would encourage you to discuss any concerns with your doctor.  These complications are frustrating for you and your doctor, I'm sure.If a seroma gets infected, it almost always requires open (operative) drainage.  Hopefully you don't develop an infection!The blood clot is another issue altogether.  Blood clots may be a complication of ANY surgery.  They must be recognized quickly and treated appropriately.  It sounds like you doctor has addressed this.Good luck,  and continue your follow-up until everything has resolved.
